25th Anniversary of the bells

On Saturday 24 January All Saints Singleton enjoyed a lovely afternoon to celebrate the 25th anniversary of bell ringing in our tower.

In excess of thirty people arrived to hear the celebratory peal. These included past and present bell ringers as well as family connections of the planning committee, engineers and construction workers who installed all parts of the belfry. Memorabilia such as photo albums, newspaper articles, past yearly reviews and merchandise was on display. The hall was decorated in red and white, the colour of our sallys and the cake was cut by Michael Gill (chief engineer) and Marion George (wife of Royston, who lead the bells project committee).

We are so grateful to the peal band who included bell ringers from Melbourne, Orange, Sydney and Newcastle. They included Colin Sweet, Claire O'Mahony, Rachel Perrins, Luka Sostarko, Hugh Carwardine, Andrew Davies, Murray Luke Peard and Thomas Perrins. They rang Singleton Surprise Major, composed by Andrew Davies especially for our tower in 2001.
