Some words about the October 2016 Sydney Ringing School

We had 12 registered learners, 11 of them from ACT or country NSW towers, which was very pleasing. The leaners included some advanced ones who turned into helpers for some sessions.

Things that I particularly noticed:

  • Some towers have a good practice of teaching conducting
  • Ringers working on Plain Bob Doubles really benefited from hunting to doubles to consolidate their rhythm and rope sight
  • Ringers from towers with light, easy to ring bells, were challenged by some of our heavier bells and longer drafts
  • The theory, practice and fellowship were all important aspects of the weekend

Thanks to the tower captains, ringers and helpers at St Mary's, St James', Christ Church St Laurence, Naremburn and Burwood; and to St Philip's and St Benedict's for the friendly welcomes at their Friday night practices.

Deryn Griffiths (Coordinator)

And thanks especially to Deryn for another well run and rewarding Sydney Ringing School - from all the Learners.
