Bells ring out over Camden on Christmas Day 2015

For the first time, local ringers rang their bells open at St Paul's Camden for services on Christmas Eve and also Christmas Day. The local band was helped by ringers from Menangle, Bowral and Castlereagh.

Front L-R: Gwen Voar, Kiara Messer and Jordan Messer

The highlight was when all seven bells were rung just before the services started; a very interesting sound.

By the way, Ivo is holding the tower visitors' book.

The bells sounded good and the sound control was very effective. Now comes the formation and teaching a new band. The Dedication of the bells is set for Sunday, 20 September 2015.

Ron Shepherd has provided a couple of images from Camden, and reports "The bells of St Paul's Camden are just about ready to ring, only the sound control needs to be finished. The tower contains a peal of six bell and a new service bell which is also hung for full circle ringing."

Horse jump at Camden

But what's this?

Camden is "horse country", and the image above shows a jump at the equestrian centre which is modelled on St John's Anglican church at Camden. Other jumps replicate the court house and other buildings around town. St John's has a chime of eight (tenor 14cwt) cast by Meares and Stainbank, and has a strong connection with the Macarthur family. The jump is a good copy of the church, but lacks bells!
