For the first time, local ringers rang their bells open at St Paul's Camden for services on Christmas Eve and also Christmas Day. The local band was helped by ringers from Menangle, Bowral and Castlereagh.
Back L-R: Robert Shepherd, Ivo Grubisic, Mary Malak, Elizabeth Shepherd, Cathey Shepherd, Belinda Messer, Andrew Messer and Ron Shepherd
Front L-R: Gwen Voar, Kiara Messer and Jordan Messer
The highlight was when all seven bells were rung just before the services started; a very interesting sound.
By the way, Ivo is holding the tower visitors' book.

The bells sounded good and the sound control was very effective. Now comes the formation and teaching a new band. The Dedication of the bells is set for Sunday, 20 September 2015.

Ron Shepherd has provided a couple of images from Camden, and reports "The bells of St Paul's Camden are just about ready to ring, only the sound control needs to be finished. The tower contains a peal of six bell and a new service bell which is also hung for full circle ringing."
Looking Out and Looking In
Guess which one is the service bell!

Work has commenced on the installation of the bells at St Paul's, Camden, starting with replacement of the service bell.

But what's this?
Camden is "horse country", and the image above shows a jump at the equestrian centre which is modelled on St John's Anglican church at Camden. Other jumps replicate the court house and other buildings around town. St John's has a chime of eight (tenor 14cwt) cast by Meares and Stainbank, and has a strong connection with the Macarthur family. The jump is a good copy of the church, but lacks bells!

Here is a photo of the bells of St Paul's Catholic Church at Camden. They arrived on the 15th December 2014 and should be hung for ringing in January/February 2015.
And here is the new 7 cwt service bell for Camden. It too will be hung for full circle ringing and is in tune with the peal of six.

The 2nd bell was supplied by the Keltek Trust and previously hung in St Saviour's Church, Weston-Super-Mare. The Tenor was also supplied by the Keltek Trust and is an ex Trinity House bell.
The bells are named after schools in the parish on one side of the bell, with the school's location on the other.

Some of this has been provided by local ringers, but most is historical and has been gathered by the ANZAB Webmaster since 2002.
