Bells installed at St Canice

Thomas Perrins used the ANZAB Facebook to announce that the installation was completed on Friday 19 June 2026, noting a few finishing touches are still required. Visitors came to ring them on Saturday 20 June.

Kathi Downs commented "Lovely little ring, well done Thomas Perrins. The ringing chamber is great."

Claire O'Mahony commented "Some of the Orange Pealers were lucky enough to be part of the test ringing, very clear sound Tom."

Towards the end of today's session with Hannah and Tony.

St Canice's have 12 keen learners who have started! Three bells are in place and ringable but we are using only two bells for training. It's a very small ringing room and very busy sessions, but the learners enjoy watching the others and picking up information from listening to instructions given to the people ringing at the time.

I have been involved with 3 sessions over the last 3 weeks, one with Lindsay helping and two with Tony helping. All have gone well, usually with 9 of the 12 attending for part of each session. Everyone has been improving each session, although at different rates, as is to be expected. Colin has been coordinating the sessions.

The feedback from everyone is that they are enjoying it and some have now got the feel of the bells and are starting to put it all together. They are very enthusiastic.

Bells arrive

On 10 January 2025 the bells and fittings were delivered to St Canice, Katoomba.

The five full-circle bells, tenor approx. 3cwt, will be hung alongside an existing Danks bell. Bells 1 and 2 are newly cast. Bell 3 is a Mears bell. Bells 4 and 5 are Gillet and Co. The Keltek Trust donated the three second-hand bells plus one new bell.
