Organiser's Report

This year was Peter and my first year organising the Sydney Ringing School after taking over from Anna Perrins who handed over a great foundation to work up from!

In total we had 9 learners and 14 official helpers (a few extras were roped in and not on the official spreadsheet!) and we rang at 7 towers over the long weekend. Six learners were from NSW, 2 of whom were Sydney based. We also had a high interest from interstate this year with 3 learners travelling all the way up from Melbourne, not to mention the distance some of our helpers travelled!

Some successes:

  • The feedback we received (from learners and others) was that all the learners went away with a confidence boost
  • First time calling of call changes by Kathy and Peter Creamer and some exciting Kaleidoscopic changes!
  • Two successful QPs: Morwenna Griffiths who rang her first QP inside to Plain Bob Doubles and Inga Griffiths-Hunt who rang her first minor QP on tower bells and got a lot of practice making singles!

The only failure I am aware of was the lack of group photo taken by the organisers! So there is at least something to improve on next year! However we did get one at St Mary's on the Sunday with most of the participants.

A big thank you to all the towers for their support over the weekend and of course to all the helpers all the sessions I attended were well run with a great enthusiastic and supportive atmosphere and overall a great time was had by all!
