Sometime last year someone casually mentioned to our new ringers that touring the country ringing bells as you go was a thing. The idea stuck and we made it happen in late September, somehow finding a week that suited six of us (but not a seventh - sorry Harry, you will have to come on our next outing).

Our first stop was in Bendigo where Stephen Young kindly allowed us a ring on his remarkable Norfolk Ring. After that we drove up the Hume Highway ringing everywhere possible. Apart from Yass, we rang at all towers from Wangaratta in Victoria to Ingleburn on the outskirts of Sydney.

The trip was a great success. Our band (half of which hadn't seen a bell rope two years earlier) rang plain hunt and plain bob expertly and we got better at our special method of St. Simon's Doubles after every attempt, finally rattling out a thrilling perfect rendition on the wonderful bells at Bowral (we want a tower like that in Hobart!). We rang with and enjoyed meeting local ringers everywhere we went (big thanks to you all) and we revelled in the delights of perfect weather and the fun of a holiday atmosphere.
