Women in Ringing Celebrations

Women at St Mary's Cathedral

NSW ringers, organised by Kathi Downs, marked the 125th anniversary of the first woman, Alice White, to ring a tower bell peal the weekend of 12-14 February.

Ten women met at St Mary's Cathedral Friday night for some fine Grandsire Caters and Stedman Triples, and sixteen women met for a general practice on the Saturday (see photo above). They achieved one all female quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles and an extent of Plain Bob Minor.

Earlier in the week a Perrins family band rang a peal on handbells dedicated to the same anniversary.
