Striving for Good Striking

Practices involve many aspects of ringing, one of which is often good striking, something most bands strive for during service ringing.

Here are two ideas I've heard of recently to help bands focus on their striking in a constructive way. Do you have others you can share?

Nominate and record one piece of ringing at each practice and judge it for its striking. The intention is to make a graph showing improved striking over a matter of months.

Have a social ringer, or a friend of the ringers, join you for tea/coffee after service ringing and reflect with them on which piece of ringing sounded best to them that day.

In the photo, Fr John of Christ Church St Laurence Sydney, was letting us know he was listening to the bells ringing a quarter peal dedicated to him. Knowing you have an audience should certainly help your band to focus.
